All Volunteers Workshop

“When is the next time this is offered? It was so valuable, I would take it every 4 or 5 months!”

-Link volunteer after completing the All Volunteers Workshop

Why join us for this workshop?

We work hard to make this time highly valuable for you, and our board has asked all volunteers to participate every two years. Here’s some of what’s in it for you…

This Christ-centered, Gospel-centered workshop clearly communicates International Link’s DNA and philosophy of ministry.

Full of stories of how God has worked for your encouragement, it is also designed to protect you from discouragement, burnout, and false guilt.

This is not a lecture.

It is interactive & collaborative, since adults learn better this way.

It’s also designed to nurture relationships with those you serve with.

Yet we’re jealous for your time and try to take a modular approach, so you only get the equipping related to your role.

“Do I really need this? I’ve been an elder / Sunday school teacher / missionary for 50 years.”

  • Other International Student Ministries require even more training than we do.
  • Why? Serving internationals among us is a very different context than 1) serving overseas or 2) serving Americans.
  • These skills perishable over time.
  • More improtantly, the attitudes are counter-intuitive.
  • To avoid common mistakes in this context and unintentional harm to our international friends & neighbors.

Attending this workshop will strengthen your cross-cultural abilities

  • To understand this very different context than serving overseas or serving Americans.
  • To avoid common mistakes in this context and unintentional harm to our international friends & neighbors
  • To refresh (perishable) skills and (counter-intuitive) attitudes

I don’t yet know if I will volunteer. Is this workshop still for me?

  • Yes! …to check alignment… is Link a good fit for you?
  • To help you know what to expect.
  • To answer common questions.
  • To keep you from falling through the cracks as you seek to get involved.

I’m new or I don’t even know yet if I will volunteer. Why should I go?

  • To check alignment… is Link a good fit for you?
  • To help you know what to expect.
  • To answer common questions.
  • To keep you from falling through the cracks as you seek to get involved.
