3-4 hours / week. Preferably for at least a semester at a time.
Purpose statement
It can be scary for our new students when they first come to class. Even those who are confident need to be connected relationally and set up for success. You help them in this way.
Summary of goals
- Regularly pray…
- that students will take ownership of their learning
- will get placed in the best small group (ESL class) for them
- will feel at home and stick around
- Coach them on why we are placing them in a certain class level.
- Help them stick with ESL classes by coaching them / managing their expectations.
- Ensure they know next steps for other things they have expressed interest in (e.g. get them on whatsapp group for social events)
- Help them connect to the volunteers in their new class
- Encourage feedback from students on their learning progress
- Connect with them

- Ask them what they think is difference between coach vs. teacher. Explain. therefore…
