Volunteer Roles
ESL School Leaders (Thursday am or pm)
Why? (purpose of this role)
ESL is the primary means by which Link connects with and serves internationals in our area. The two ESL School Leaders lead the morning & evening ESL schools, supporting volunteers and leading them to serve the students well, for their salvation, our greater joy, and God’s greater glory. As leader of a school, the buck stops here for all areas of ministry. Assistant School Leader has only some of the responsibilities as School Leader.
What? (goals of this role)
Note: there is a separate ESL school leader at morning & evening schools.
- Pray continually & lead intentional prayer plan for the school, modeling & winsomly inviting others to join you.
- Encourage & support teachers
- Assist ESL Teacher if needed (should be rare occasion, and only for brief times)
- Work with ESL Ministry Leader to provide resources / support for teachers
- Humanly speaking, “the buck stops here for this ESL School.
- Provide vision / encouragement for volunteers in the School.
- Our ESL ministry goals are:
- Prayer… as our first and main work.
- English… this is why they come to us.
- Relationship… building bridges for trust and understanding.
- Spiritual Intentionality… our purpose in all this.
- Two groups that the School Leader leads in order to try and achieve these goals are:
- ESL Class Ministry Teams (i.e. Teachers and others who help them; Click here for an overview of Ministry Teams.)
- Welcome Team Leader (click here for the details of the Welcome Team)

How?
Prerequisites
This role requires a background check. This helps to steward the trust of those we serve and of our secular partners who share their internationals with us.
For those who serve children or lead those who are serving children, we require that you complete child safety training called Ministry Safe. This is at no expense to you, just the hour or so it takes to go through the online training.
There are many reasons we can find to avoid connecting with Jesus' bride. But He still loves her and is working in and through her, so we need to lean in. And sporadic or virtual participation is not enough (unless you're in a closed country where there are no local believers).
